75 or Over? It’s Time for Your Annual Health Check

Start the year off right with a comprehensive 75+ health assessment, designed specifically for older Australians and fully funded by Medicare, with no out-of-pocket costs.

As we age, our health needs change. This senior health check provides dedicated time to focus on your overall wellbeing, helping to identify health concerns early and ensure you have the right supports in place to stay healthy and independent.

What is a 75+ Health Assessment?

A 75+ health assessment is a thorough, one-hour appointment with a practice nurse who will review all aspects of your health and wellbeing. Your GP will join towards the end of the appointment to finalise the assessment, discuss any concerns, and create a personalised care plan.

This is your time to talk about what matters most to you.

What’s included in a Medicare-funded health check?

The assessment covers a wide range of areas, including:

  • Overall health and wellbeing
  • Mobility and home safety
  • Medication review
  • Sleep and mental health
  • Immunisation status
  • Nutrition and physical activity
  • Home help and social supports

You’ll also receive advice about aged care services and other supports available to help you live safely and independently.

Who is eligible?

All Australians aged 75 years and over are eligible for this annual health assessment, provided they are not admitted to a hospital or living in an aged care facility. The assessment is fully funded by Medicare, making it accessible to all eligible older adults.

Supporting healthy ageing

As we get older, common health concerns may include reduced mobility, increased falls risk, incontinence, difficulty managing at home, or changes in memory. Senior health assessments help identify these issues early and allow for timely intervention.

Caring doctors and nurses provide support with dignity and professionalism, offering guidance on home care, healthy ageing strategies, and referrals to other health services if required.

Bulk billing and concession cards

Many GPs offer bulk billed appointments for pension card holders. Eligible patients may also apply for a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, which provides access to:

  • Cheaper medicines under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme
  • Bulk billed GP visits at participating clinics
  • Higher Medicare Safety Net refunds

Why book a 75+ Health Assessment?

A Medicare-funded health check for older Australians can identify unknown health issues, review medications, provide confidence in managing health, and connect you with appropriate aged care services. Early intervention supports better health, independence, and wellbeing for longer.
